MEET INFORMATION
The Mook XC Invite at Alderbrook
DOG FRIENDLY: Please communicate with your parents that we are dog friendly. I’ve already started to field those calls and it will be helpful if you can let them know now.
CONCESSIONS/COFFEE: Breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwhiches will be available in the morning and a variety of hot and cold sandwhiches will be available in the afternoon. We have a coffee truck coming to serve cofee and cold drinks all day. See concession menu here: Concessions Menu.
We’re taking preorders for teams in case you want to have a large amount of food available at a certain time. E-mail me at pat@ultimookrace.com for these orders.
PARKING: Here is parking map. Bus and spectators will be parking in a farmer’s field acrosss from the east end of the golf course. ALL BUSSES AND CARS MUST PARK HERE.
SPECTATOR ENTRANCE: The spectators’ entrance has been moved to the East side of the property near the parking area. In 2024 we had a big problem with people parking in our neigbors yards, driveways, and roadways. It was a disaster…….and not sustainable for the future of the race. Fortunately, I grew up on a dairy farm, and I know how to herd cattle. Therefore, all spectators must enter on the east side of the property. This disincentivizes people to park in our neighbors’ yards and driveways. There will be zero exceptions made. Zero. There will be many people who try……. too bad. Please notify parents that the spectator entrance is on the east side of the property near the parking. Signs will be posted, and there will be zero exceptions.
BUS DROP OFF ZONE: The bus dropoff zone is illustrated in the Parking Map. One way in, one way out for smooth bus movement. Absolutely no parking, even temporary parking in this zone. If you drive a bussette, you are unable to park temporarily, you must exit and park in the parking area. Last year we had several bus drivers/coaches that did not cooperate. This year we’ll be making a list and these teams will not be invited back. There are good reasons we have these rules. Thank you for your cooperation.
Golf Carts: Golf carts will be available to rent for $30. They will be strategically placed near the spectator entrance at the far East side of the property.

Tom Rothenberger of Jesuit HS/Stumptown Running and Patrick Zweifel of the Ultimook are teaming up to host a championship style cross country invitational Sept. 20th at The Mook at Alderbrook in Tillamook (formally called Alderbrook Golf Course). Patrick Zweifel and partners recently purchased The Mook at Alderbrook with the purpose of turning the course into a destination golf and event venue. The Mook is certainly a WORLD CLASS XC COURSE.
Our goal is that The Mook XC Invitational becomes an early season West Coast preview of the best teams and best runners in the Western United States.
Come to the coast on Sept. 19th, escape the heat and smoke to compete on a fast and competitive course.
Course Description: This is a world-class championship style cross country course that is both fast and honest. Most of the race is on shortly clipped fairways. The first mile is slightly downhill and fast, the second mile is uphill, and the last mile has more downhill than up. See link to elevation chart. It makes for a very fast first mile, a grueling 2nd mile, and a determining last mile. The entire course will be lined with flags and course monitors will be on the course to keep all participants inside these flags.
It is very coach/spectator friendly. With some planning—and some quick moving—you can watch nearly all of the race. Golf carts are available to rent for coaches. See Spectator Map here.

Open 5k Race: This year we have an open race 5k at two start times at 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM(results will be combined) and an 8k. Register here.
High School – The cost to compete is $300 for 1A-4A (1A-2A WA) schools and $350 for 5A-6A (3A-4A WA) schools. $450 will be charged for mega teams over 100 participants. Discounts are available for smaller, rural schools as the Ultimook’s mission is to support smaller, non-priviledged schools (e-mail us so we can edit your invoice prior to finalizing your entries). No late entries accepted. NO day of race entries accepted. Entry fee payment will be made via athletic.net. The default is set for $350 once you register some athletes. For smaller schools, we will monitor and adjust the invoices down to $300, however, if we miss it somehow please e-mail me and we’ll adjust it.
Specific to OSAA rules, no unattached athletes can compete in high school races. If you want an individual to run, you must enter the team. If you’re entering 1-3 athletes, the cost is $50/athlete or $100 whichever is more. E-mail us to edit your invoice so you can pay to finalize your entries.
However, the middle school race can have unattached athletes. If you have a single middle school athlete that wants to run, the best method to register him/her is by using the open race using this link and then they can run in the middle school race and results will be picked up there.
Middle School and Club Teams: $20.00 per entered athlete or $250.00 for the team, whichever is less with $100 minimum. No late entries accepted. NO day of race entries accepted. Entry fee payment will be made via athletic.net.
