Hole 4 Par HCP

The Hole Story
Hole 4: A straightaway par 4 that rewards precision off the tee and touch on the approach. The fairway plays gently uphill to a slightly elevated green, adding just enough challenge to club selection. Longer hitters may attempt to carry the creek, but the risk is real—two grass bunkers guard its front edge, ready to capture any shot that comes up short.
Approaches into this small, well-protected green demand accuracy. Bunkers guard the front left, right, and back, leaving little margin for error. Staying below the hole and finding the center of the green is the surest path to a good score.
Naming the Hole

Named for the Big Blue Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Nikko Blue’), this hole celebrates one of the Oregon Coast’s most iconic blooms—and one especially dear to Oregon Coastal Flowers. This bigleaf hydrangea is our signature variety, once featured at President Barack Obama’s inaugural celebration, and remains a symbol of the vibrant coastal flora that defines our region.
The Nikko Blue produces large, mophead clusters of deep blue blossoms that appear on old wood from summer through fall, often lasting up to two months. Its rich green foliage and rounded form make it a standout in any setting, growing 4–6 feet tall and wide with a lush, full presence.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade, this hydrangea prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil to maintain its brilliant blue hue. In coastal climates, it performs beautifully—flourishing in beds, borders, and garden edges.
You’ll find these striking blue blooms near the back of the green and along the right side of the cart path, adding color and character to the finishing stretch of this classic par 4.
