The Hole Story

Hole 12:   The green on Hole 12 rewards accuracy and confident shot-making. Approaching from the fairway, players face a narrow entry framed by two guarding bunkers—one on each side—that demand precise distance control. The green itself is moderately contoured, with subtle slopes that can make even short putts challenging if you find the wrong section.

The approach area gently rises, making the hole play slightly longer than it appears. A shot landing on the front edge will often hold, but anything short risks rolling back toward the fairway. Careful club selection and trajectory are key to holding this green and setting up a realistic birdie opportunity.

Framed by mature evergreens and open sky, the twelfth green offers a classic test of precision and touch—simple in appearance, but far from easy in execution.

Sitka Sedge

(Carex aquatilis)

The Sitka Sedge is a resilient evergreen perennial native to the Pacific Northwest’s coastal wetlands. Growing up to 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide, it forms graceful clumps of slender, arching leaves that remain green throughout the year. In mid-summer, the sedge produces fine, wind-pollinated flowers, followed by ripening seed heads that contribute to its natural texture and movement in the landscape.

This adaptable plant thrives in a wide range of soils—from light and sandy to heavy and clay-rich—and can tolerate acidic, neutral, or basic conditions. It prefers moist to wet environments and grows well in both full sun and partial shade, making it an essential species in stabilizing and filtering wetland ecosystems.

You’ll find Sitka Sedge growing naturally in the wetlands to the left of Fairway 12, where it anchors the landscape with its year-round greenery and highlights the course’s connection to Oregon’s native coastal habitat.
