The Hole Story
Club selection is key depending on the flag color. A large swale mid green makes for a tricky 2 putt.
Naming the Hole
The Flower Hole: The Flower Hole is inspired by The Flower Hole, par 3, at Sentry World in Wisconsin.
The idea is to turn a relatively unmemorable par three into a memorable experience. Hundreds of hydrangeas have been planted to the left of this fairway along Alderbrook Rd., along with Mt. Fuji Cherry and Kwanza Cherry.
There are 4 “flower holes” flanking the number 8 green in front and back on both sides. They consist of ornamental grasses, heuchera’s, and marigolds and will be expanded over the years. The initial goal is to add color, intrique, and texture to the eighth par 3 that gives color and textures throughout the entire year. Behind the green is a row of purple hydrangeas, japanese viburnum, and five varieties of flowering tulip magnolia trees.
