The Gardens at Alderbrook is a unique blend of destination golfing and botanical garden. Each golf hole is named after a particular flower, plant, or tree that is featured in or around these holes. Along each golf hole, many other species of plants have been planted and available for viewing.
The golf course is 100 years old this year, and was recently saved from development because of our purchase in 2023. Our vision is to create a botanical garden that preserves the many plants and trees native to the Oregon Coast, and highlight the many imported flowering plants & trees that thrive here. Some species have been growing on the property for over 100 years, while others have been collected and curated by The Gardens designer Patrick Zweifel over the past 30 years while operating Oregon Coastal Flowers and the Hydrangea Ranch.
The Gardens are heavily planted in many species of hydrangeas, flowering dogwoods, and tulip magnolia trees, all a signature of the Oregon Coastal Flower’s collection.
As our garden grows, we’ll have an interactive map indicating what flowers, plants, or trees are available for viewing in and around these holes as well as medal signs listing the botanical name, common name, and plant description. For now The Gardens are meant to accenuate the golfing experience, but in 2025/2026 we’ll begin offering dedicated days and times to walk the gardens as a true botanical garden.
